LESSONS I PROVIDE

THE SUZUKI METHOD

The Suzuki method is taught worldwide, and is also known as Talent Education. As a Suzuki teacher, I believe that every child can learn to play music, and I strive to create a positive learning environment for every student. Another aspect of Suzuki education is the Suzuki triangle, or the relationship between parent, student, and teacher. I highly encourage that the parents be involved in the student's music lessons, as the parent is often the teacher at home, after the lesson has ended.

Lessons are a half hour long and include work on scales, pieces, theory, and ear training. Sometimes I will send home worksheets or games with the student. I expect each student to practice regularly. As Dr. Suzuki said, "practice every day that you eat!" Students should practice a minimum of 30 minutes a day. Every year I implement a new practice encouragement program. For 2019, students will be earning "Bach Bucks"; for every task completed, they will earn Bucks to be redeemed later for a small prize.

Group classes will be held occasionally. There will be a yearly recital held as well. Students will get a chance to show off what they have learned for their friends and family, as well as experience playing with a pianist!

FIDDLE LESSONS

I also offer fiddle lessons in Irish fiddle music, bluegrass, and improvisation. Fiddle lessons are a half hour long, and also include work on some music theory (for improvisation), but mostly focus on the songs themselves. Bring your fiddle, a sense of fun and creativity, and any songs you would like to learn!
